Officials' info – Hydration stations

Liquid stations

Generally:
Purpose: That the runners should have plenty of places to fill up on water and energy. They should meet happy officials who clap their hands and can answer questions. It is a safety point where you can get first aid or just a little help with chafing. We as organizers should keep track of where the runners are so we don't lose anyone. We have chosen beautiful places and intersections where it is easy to run wrong.

Here is a link to all the hydration stations. Please note that it is a map with layers that need to be turned on and off for you to see the right things.

All are staffed except for the “water only” stations. At each station there are one or two tables, water and sports drinks. So there may be sports drinks at the “water only” stations.

At all stations there are two garbage bags for runners' trash. It is a large black garbage bag that is inserted into a holder (which looks like a double X).
One garbage bag should be placed right next to the table. The second garbage bag should be placed about 150-200 meters away. The second garbage bag should be placed in a visible place, but not in the way of traffic or runners. If there is a risk of it blowing down, place a rock at the bottom or attach it to a tree or pole.

Dog service: In the box there is a dog bowl (a sturdy object made of metal or porcelain. Pour water into it and place it under the table with treats, etc. Place it so that the dogs can reach it, but that no runner happens to kick it.

At manned stations there will be at least one person at the times listed below. When there are many runners there may be 2-4 people on site.

If you work at a station, you are responsible for reading the instructions, making sure it is neat and pleasant. If you have time, check that there is no trash around, even 200-300 m after the station.
Cut bananas in half, put out candy – but not all at once. Check how far it is to the next station, where the nearest toilet is.

Safety: If a serious accident happens, call 112. You should know the address and whether there is a drivable road there. There should be a first aid kit in the box, familiarize yourself with it so you can help. There is a defibrillator in Fjällnora and one on a bicycle or 4-wheeler. Call 073-610 84 03 (alternatively 070-3636262) after you have called 112 and provided first aid.
For minor injuries, call 073-610 84 03 (alternatively 070-3636262) and we will arrange transportation to the target area.

If someone wants to break and go home themselves: Note the name and the runner's number. Send a text message to 073-610 84 03 (alternatively 070-3636262)

When the last runner has passed: Clean up, wipe down, tie the garbage bag. Put food in the boxes. If possible, transport the food to the starting area.
If it is unclear whether any individual runners are left on the course, but you have to leave the station unmanned: Leave drinks and some energy, such as a couple of bananas, energy gels, etc.

#1 Hygget (water only) 59.849755, 17.926690
Availability: You can drive a car with a trailer here and turn around.
Here passes: Maraton
Staffing: No
Preparations: Set up a table and water. Place it as in the picture, so that you don't obstruct cars, while still understanding that you should turn here.

#2 Borgis, 59.862134, 17.944568
Availability: Keep in mind that it is quite a long drive here. It is easy to drive here, but you will have to carry your stuff the last 100 m.
Here passes: Maraton
Staffing: Two officials at 10:20 – 11:45 (or until the last runner has passed)
Preparations: There is a high risk that signs will disappear or that someone will move signs due to bathers. Walk a couple of hundred meters before and after and check that you can follow the course. Set up a table and one or two chairs and set out drinks and the food in the box you received. Divide bananas into two. Set out sweets and gels etc. so that it is easy to take on the way. You do not need to set out everything from the beginning, but fill up as you go. Set up a garbage can by the table and another about 150-200 m away (so runners can, for example, eat a banana on the way and then throw away the peel).
Things to consider during the race: Be cheerful, cheer on the runners and answer any questions. Replenish energy on the table as you go. Keep in mind that there may be a lot of people from the public here if it is sunny. You may need to ask people to move so it is easy to run. If someone asks, they have completed the hardest part, but there will be about 1 km of forest path left, then most of the race is easy running. There is a toilet here.
When the last runner has passed: Pick up scraps and any signs next to the swimming area, pick up stuff. Call the coordinator and check if you will be taking food and drinks to Fjällnora or if it is needed at some other location. If you can bring a table and chair, that is fine, otherwise you wipe it off and put it aside.

#3 Ältsjön, 59.870980, 17.937512
Availability: This is the most difficult water station to reach by car. But it is also one of the most beautiful places. You drive in from 282 on the small road where it says “Ältsjön” on a small wooden sign. Expect two people to walk at least twice to get everything. Use a cart to bring water and sports drinks. At the turnoff you park and walk along the path, 650 m to the lake. There the path splits and you go up the hill with a view of the lake.
Here passes: Maraton
Staffing: Two officials at 10:40 – 12:00 (or until the last runner has passed)
Preparations: Preparations here can take 1-2 hours due to difficult access. Set up a table and possibly a chair. There is a bench, so a chair is not necessary. Take the opportunity to check that it is clearly marked and signposted from 282 and here. Set out drinks and the food in the box you received. Divide bananas into two. Set out sweets and gels etc. so that it is easy to take on the road. You do not need to set out everything from the beginning, but fill up as you go. Set up a garbage can by the table and another about 150-200 m away (so runners can, for example, eat a banana on the road and then throw away the peel).
Things to consider during the race: Be cheerful, cheer on the runners and answer any questions. Replenish energy on the table as you go.
When the last runner has passed: Carry the stuff back to the turning area and transport to Fjällnora. You can pour the water out, but sports drinks and other things may need to be taken to other stations. Call 073-610 84 03 and check if you will be taking drinks and sweets to Fjällnora or another location. If you want, you are welcome to pick up scraps and signs in the forest and down to 282.

Set out sweets and gels etc. so that it is easy to take on the road. You do not need to set out everything from the beginning, but fill up as you go. Set up a garbage can by the table and another about 150-200 m away (so runners can, for example, eat a banana on the road and then throw away the peel).

Set up a garbage can by the table and another about 150-200 m away (so runners can, for example, eat a banana on the road and then throw away the peel).
Things to consider during the race: Be cheerful, cheer on the runners and answer any questions. Replenish energy on the table as you go. It is especially important to keep it neat and clean, avoid having too many scraps, the farm owner doesn't like that.
When the last runner has passed: Call or text the coordinator when you are finished and the last runner has passed. Gather your stuff in the box so it can be picked up.

#7 Brudgatan (water only) 59.896210, 17.842616

#8 Potball, 59.885865, 17.856360

Availability: The station is located next to the small croft Grytbol. There is a road barrier about 350 m before the site. You may need to carry your stuff there, so allow an extra half hour and preferably have two people carrying your stuff there. It is difficult to turn around with a trailer here. Especially if the barrier is down (see map). You will need to uncouple the trailer and turn carefully on a small forest road.
Here passes: Maraton

Things to consider during the race: Be cheerful, cheer on the runners and answer any questions. Refill the table with energy as you go. Here the runners turn to the right, so make sure they run the right way.
When the last runner has passed: Call or text the coordinator when you are finished and the last runner has passed. Gather your stuff in the box so it can be picked up.

The marathon runners start arriving at 12 o'clock, it is important that they run in the right direction.

#14 Norredatorp, 59.814422, 17.905887

Availability: Easy to drive to.
Here passes: Half Marathon, Marathon
Staffing: Two officials from 11:30 AM – 15:40 PM (or until the last runner has passed), however only one official from 12:30 PM onwards, see more info below.
Preparations: Set up two tables and two chairs in the parking lot by the garbage station. Set it up so that it looks neat and doesn't smell like garbage. Don't get in the way of cars. Set out drinks and the food in the box you were given. Divide bananas in half. Set out sweets and gels etc. so that it's easy to take on the road. You don't need to set everything out from the beginning, but fill it up as you go. Set up a garbage can by the table and another about 150-200 m away (so runners can, for example, eat a banana on the road and then throw the peel away). Here we have had problems with people tearing up chips a few hundred meters after the station. Send out a scout with extra chips and check that everything looks OK until the bathroom.
Things to consider during the race: There is a toilet here. Be cheerful, cheer on the runners and answer any questions. Fill up on energy on the table as you go. The runners now have 5 km left. The first half marathon runners will arrive around 11:45. The marathon runners can arrive at 12:30 at the earliest. Between 11:45 and 12:30 you need two, after that one is enough. The other can go to Fjällnora or change someone at another hydration station.
When the last runner has passed: Here it is important to keep track of the last marathon runners. We have cyclists/4-wheelers who check where the last runner is. When they have passed, you can collect the station. If we are not completely sure whether the last runner has passed, it is best to leave drinks and something edible. Collect the rest. Call or message the coordinator when you are finished and the last runner has passed.

#15 Red Trail, 59.812908, 17.916043

Availability: Here we have a closed barrier a couple of hundred meters from the site, so you have to carry things. Otherwise easy to drive to. Keep in mind that it is a long journey by car, about 40 minutes from Fjällnora. Cycling and walking from Fjällnora is less than 3 km.
Here passes: Half Marathon, Marathon
Staffing: Two or three officials from 11:20 AM to 16:00 PM (or until the last runner has passed), however, possibly only one official from 13:00 PM onwards, see more info below.
Preparations: Set up a table and two chairs. Set out drinks and the food in the box you received. Divide bananas in half. Set out sweets and gels etc. so that it is easy to take on the road. You do not need to set everything out from the beginning, but fill up as you go. Set up a garbage can by the table and another about 150-200 m away (so runners can, for example, eat a banana on the road and then throw the peel away). Feel free to bring speakers with upbeat music!!!
Things to consider during the race: Be cheerful, cheer on the runners and answer any questions. Replenish energy on the table as you go. It's at the end of the course and they've just finished a long hill. Feel free to have a person further down the hill cheering them on. The first half marathon runners can arrive around 11:45. The marathon runners can arrive at 12:30 at the earliest. Between 11:45 and 13:00, you need two people, after that one is enough. But it can be fun to be two, and then one person can stand and cheer on the hill beforehand.

Here passes: 10 km, Half Marathon, Marathon
Staffing: Two officials at 10:00 – 12:00 (or until the last runner has passed)
Preparations: Set up a table and a chair. Set out drinks and the food in the box you received. Divide bananas in half. Set out sweets and gels etc. so that it is easy to take on the road. You do not need to set everything out from the beginning, but fill up as you go. Set up a garbage can by the table and another about 150-200 m away (so runners can, for example, eat a banana on the road and then throw away the peel).
Things to consider during the race: Good mood, cheer on the runners and answer any questions. Replenish energy on the table as you go. This is the first station for the 10 km and half marathon. Many runners in a short time, but few stop. The slower runners usually appreciate the station, especially the 10 km one.
When the last runner has passed: Call or text the coordinator when you are finished and the last runner has passed. Gather your stuff in the box so it can be picked up.

#17 Bridge, 59.818949, 17.912949
Availability: This is difficult to reach by car, you have to walk several hundred meters. But it is important because it is the only station for 5 km. It will be the least burdensome to drive on Norredavägen (orange arrows on the map). Park and walk about 400 m east. The alternative is to come from the Fjällnorahållet direction, but that gravel road has a barrier, then you have to walk 750 m from the barrier.
Here passes: 5 km
Staffing: Two or three officials at 11:40 – 12:20 (or until the last runner has passed). At least two people carrying things to the location.
Preparations: Set up a table and two chairs. Set up the table on the right side directly after the bridge (see it from the direction of the runners, i.e. west of the bridge). Set out drinks and the food in the box you received. Divide bananas into two. Set out sweets and gels etc. so that it is easy to take on the road. You do not need to set everything out from the beginning, but fill up as you go. Set up a garbage can by the table and another about 150-200 m away (so runners can, for example, eat a banana on the road and then throw away the peel).
Things to consider during the race: Be cheerful, cheer on the runners and answer any questions. Replenish energy on the table as you go. This hydration station is all about being nice and making sure kids get enough candy. This round is harder than many people think.
When the last runner has passed: Call or text the coordinator when you are finished and the last runner has passed. Gather your stuff in the box, and carry it back to the road.
