Half marathon, 21 km
Run around 4 lakes
Running around four lakes gives a new perspective on Uppland. You run through a slightly hilly forest landscape, where lakes are glimpsed, a narrow-gauge railway, beautiful summer villas from the turn of the last century and a lot of forest of course. The half marathon is mostly easy running, on small gravel roads through the forest, easy paths and only a few kilometers of asphalt. About 2 km is a real forest trail. There are plenty of hydration stations and the course is excellent. If it gets hot, you can actually take a dip along the course.

Ready to start?
All distances marathon, half marathon, 10 km and 5 km has start and finish in Fjällnora by the lake Trehörningen, the same day. Mountain nora is located 20 minutes east of Uppsala, one hour north of Stockholm. The half marathon starts at 10:30, 30 minutes after the marathon and 30 minutes before the 10 km. If you have friends who run other distances, they won't have to wait long.
Start time: 10:30
Elevation difference: The course is flat (between 15 and 55 m above sea level) – but if you are tired, a 20-meter hill can be tough. And if you have only run flat asphalt races, it may feel hilly.
Easy to find: All courses are well marked and easy to find.
Equipment: Regular running shoes work great. Bring your own mug or bottle, or run with a free Hydrapouch that you will receive before the start of the race.
Track information
The half marathon takes you around four lakes counterclockwise: Trehörningen, Gårsjön, Ramsen and Norrsjön. You run close Trehörningen, you get some nice glimpses of Ramsen and Norrsjön. The only lake you don't see is Gårsjön. But you can take a dip in Norrsjön after about 17 km, it can be a wonderful memory!
During the half marathon, 21,1 km, you run one lap around 4 lakes counterclockwise: Trehörningen, Lötsjön, Funbosjön, Gårsjön, Ramsen and Norrsjön. You will run near Lötsjön and Trehörningen, you get a few glimpses of Lake Funbosjön, Ramsen and Norrsjön. You won't see Lake Gårsjön at all - but on the other hand you will see a fifth lake, the magical Ältsjön.
You start north. with a small bend down to the lake. It is an easy, wide path that turns into a gravel road along Trehörningen. Usually two or more runners can fit next to each other, but the first kilometer can feel cramped, before the runners have had time to spread out. A short stretch on asphalt along Fjällnoravägen and then down onto the gravel road and the path that runs parallel to the asphalt road. It is actually the old Fjällnoravägen you are running on. Soon you will see Trehörningen again and some of the beautiful summer villas from the turn of the last century.
Be careful when crossing the railway here. The trains are not fast, but they are museum trains and steam locomotives that have long braking distances. Never run in front of the train. You will also be crossing the main road, 282, so be careful.
The following part is the same as for marathon:
In Lövstahagen you see the lake and a gas station. Then comes a nice stretch through Marielund with its hundred-year-old summer houses. You will cross the railway tracks once again at Marielund station, so be careful! There is a toilet in the station building and a café behind the station building.
Continue on quiet asphalt roads through a beautiful open landscape to the next fuel station, Söderby såg. Here you continue on small forgotten gravel roads to the next fuel station, Häggdal.
Here (after about 14 km) you meet the 10 km course again, but soon you are in Skräddartorp where they turn off towards Fjällnora and you continue forward. Shortly afterwards you come to Norredatorp, a small farm owned by the students of Uppsala University. Here we have a hydration station with two toilets. You continue on a forest path along Norrsjön.
Now we are approaching the southernmost end of the course and now we are running in Knivsta municipality. After about 17 km, at the village of Eda we turn north on small gravel roads. The road back to Fjällnora goes on the east side of the lakes Norrsjön and Ramsen. The gravel road has a tough uphill slope before you get to the last hydration station, Röda stigen. Then a forest path for a few hundred meters and another couple of kilometers on gravel roads before you FINALLY get to Fjällnora.
Be prepared for your GPS to be somewhere over 21,1 km. When we check with runners and cyclists using different apps, we usually end up between 21,1 and 21,3 km.
The kilometer signs can sometimes be a couple of hundred meters off. Their most important function is to orient runners and officials, for example if someone is injured and needs to indicate their position.
Marielund station. Behind the station there is a café. There are toilets here.
From Marielund it is easy-running asphalt. Here the marathon follows the same route.
